How can I make my eyelashes grow?

Question 1
‘Okay everyone…time for Jessica to vent a bit. Although I do realize I haven’t
been posting for very long. I guess I sort of just shimmied my way into this
newsgroup. I must say, I’m a bit shy when I post, which is why I hadn’t before
very much.
But ANYWAY, back to the point of this [and I need to hurry up -- NewsRadio is
on in half an hour] I’d noticed before that some people were just posting
various rants, and no one is going to read this [hehe] so I’ll just rant
away…
To my mom:
I love you but OH MY GOD, STOP PUTTING DOWN EVERYTHING I LIKE. I swear, if I
hear one more insult about Dave Foley or KITH or Rocky Horror or NewsRadio or
ANYTHING I like, I’m going to go bitchcakes! If you’ve got nothing nice to say,
don’t say anything at all, [it's a major cliche, but fuck it] am I right folks?
That’s what I thought. Everything I like, you disagree with. And it only
figures that my dad, who likes KITH and has the same sense of humor as I do,
doesn’t live with me. Amazing how things like that work out.
To the stupid global history exam I took yesterday:
You suck. I don’t know anything about industrialization. And besides, that was
a really stupid essay topic. You suck. You suck. You suck.
To that scary guy with no legs that was on The X-Files last Sunday:
What do you think you’re doing? You scared the crap out of me! I felt like a
little kid after that episode — I was scared to leave my bedroom or turn off
my light! Jeez.
To that ever-so-annoying disease, Trichotillomania:
Leave my eyes alone! I never did anything to you! Just make my eyelashes grow
back and you won’t hear another complaint.
To Bill Clinton:
Oh where do I even *begin*??? I am SO glad you’re gone.
To Expage:
I hate you WITH A VIGOR! I swear, if I had the money [and patience] to make a
REAL web page, believe me, I would do it. I hate your censorship rules, I hate
your graphics, I hate your stupid music, and I hate your server ALWAYS BEING
DOWN!!!
Well I guess that’s it for now. I feel *so* much better : )
Oh, and this doesn’t have to do with any anger-releasing, but…
To the wonderful people of this newsgroup, and KITH fans everywhere:
YOU ROCK!
“The manson family never scribed in blood ’skip to my lu’” -Dave Foley
Answer
Hey, another Trich-er. Isn’t it the WORST…above all, I’m sick of hearing
people saying “Why don’t you just stop??” GOD if only it were that easy. I
really oughta be in therapy, and trich is just another piece of evidence to
that fact, but I can deal with the low-self esteem, and freaking out just
about every chick I ever meet if I could JUST get over fucking
trichotillomania.

Determine what your lashes need. Some women naturally have lashes that are long and plump. Most of us, however, have lashes that are either a little too short or a little too thin (or both) for our liking. The solution you choose should depend on your needs. If you just want to add body, there’s no sense buying lengthening extensions, for example.
Choose the right mascara. In the old days, mascaras would clump up and get sticky or, worse, bleed when they got wet. Now, many mascaras are formulated to prevent clumping, and you can get waterproof mascaras if you’re going to be in the pool, in the rain, or crying tears of joy. You can find a lot of recommendations in magazines or on the internet, but really you’ll just need to experiment to find what you like best. If you want to add body to your lashes, get a thickening mascara, and if you want longer lashes, try a lengthening mascara. Long lashes can be made even more beautiful with a curling mascara.
Use an eyelash curler. Before applying your mascara, use a curler to make your lashes appear more dramatic and elegant.
Apply your mascara correctly. Make sure you cover the entire lash from base to tip. Use a cloth or napkin to gently remove excess mascara from the wand and then wiggle the wand a little at the base of the lashes. This will ensure that the base is well-covered, and it will make the lashes appear naturally plumper. Very slowly draw the wand out from the base to the tip. Hold the wand vertically when applying mascara to your lower lashes. Also hold the wand vertically and brush out along the tips of individual lashes. Pay special attention to the lashes at the corner of the eye.
Lay down a base coat. If you want to thicken your lashes, you can first apply clear mascara, and then apply your chosen color over that base when it dries. You can also dust a light layer of powder onto your lashes before the second coat. This will add bulk to your lashes, but be careful not to get the powder into your eyes.
Try a lash primer or conditioner. Your eyelashes are hair, after all, so why wouldn’t you condition them? Lash primers and conditioners can make your eyelashes fuller. Some of these are applied right before you put on your mascara, while others are applied at night before going to bed.
Thoroughly clean mascara off your lashes before going to bed, and don’t use mascara all the time. Your lashes need to rest and rebuild in order to remain healthy.
Get false eyelashes. False eyelashes, if properly applied, are an easy and inexpensive way to lengthen your lashes. Choose the length and color that suits you, and experiment with a few different brands until you find the one you like best. Use as directed on the box, but generally to apply you simply curl your natural lashes up (or down for the lower lashes), and then apply each false eyelash directly to the eyelid with a little adhesive. Work from the outside of your eye in for best results, using progressively shorter lashes the further in you go. If you don’t want to apply each lash individually, you can also buy bands that require only one application per eye. Once you’ve applied the false eyelashes and the adhesive has dried, you can curl and apply mascara to both your natural eyelashes and the false ones at the same time.
Get eyelash extensions. If you can afford them, professionally-applied eyelash extensions are a beautiful, natural-looking way to enhance your lashes. Your local salon can apply them for you. The process usually takes a couple hours and costs $100 or more, but the extensions will last a couple months with only occasional touch-ups.
Try a natural alternative. There are a lot of “home remedies” to help you get longer lashes. Some work, and some don’t. One such method that has proven effective for many people is to apply a thin coat of olive oil or castor oil to your lashes before you go to bed at night. Dip a clean, mascara-free wand in the oil and gently brush your eyelashes from the base to the tip. Brush the lashes several times, and then lightly pat them with a tissue or cloth to remove excess oil. Leave the oil on overnight and wash it off in morning.
A shorter brush on your mascara wand will give you more control over the application of mascara.
To remove false eyelashes, use a mineral-based makeup remover.
Eyelashes are only one very small part of your appearance. If you can improve their appearance simply and inexpensively, go ahead and do it. Before buying an arsenal of expensive products or spending hundreds of dollars on extensions, however, try to put them in perspective. They’re not that important.
Use an eyelash comb to reduce the appearance of clumping and to distribute the mascara more evenly for a natural look. Wait until the mascara dries, and then use the eyelash comb to brush from the base of the lash to the tip.
-waterproof mascaras tend to make your eylashes fall out so only use waterproof if you know that your eyelashes will be getting
Question 5
How to make eyelashes grow longer?
is there any way i can make my eyelashes grow longer and stronger?
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
I know this sounds completely fake and impossible, but VASELINE actually helps grow out your eyelashes. I had read about this on the internet (search “use vaseline to grow eyelashes” on google) and applied a thin layer of it with a Q-tip before I went to sleep. In the morning I washed it off the same time I washed my face and now (after a couple of weeks) I can seriously see that it is LONGER.
Try it! Vaseline is incredibly cheap and it’s definitely worth a shot. However, humans each vary, so it’s not guaranteed to lengthen your lashes.
Question 6

Lately, ive noticed that my eyelashes have fallen ALOT, like 5 at each time, now there are so little and feeble.

Rub abit of moisturizer into them before you go to bed.I do it ,it does work.I use nivea cause its thick. It also conditions

Also use a good eye make up remover that takes the mascara off with out much force needed,eg nivea eye make up remover.

Which is most likely the cause of my eyelash loss?

Question 1
Which is most likely the cause of my eyelash loss?
I wear waterproof liquid eyeliner directly on my lashes/lashline of my top eyelid. I also wear mascara (everyday) on my eyelashes. Which one is MOST LIKELY the cause of my eyelash loss. I lose quite a few a day.

Mites.
Source(s):
Demodectic mites produce histologically observable tissue and inflammatory changes, epithelial hyperplasia, and follicular plugging.
Infestation of the eyelash hair follicle results in easier epilation and more brittle cilia. These mites also serve as vectors of infective elements and interrupt tissue integrity.

Question 2
Can anemia cause eyelash loss?
i mean like 2 or 3 everyday
cause i have been having this for about 5 months now
i have been diagnosed with anemia like 2 days ago and i just want to know
Answers (1)
· Answerer 1
I really doubt this. Don’t know for sure, but I’ve been anemic for years, and in the last 3 have had to have transfusions. When I go for checkups they ask a million questions, but never about hairloss, or any specific hair… Still, one gets a lot more out of going to a hematologist than a regular practice sort. You might feel better going for a consultation with a specialist.
Question 3
Is using mascara frequently causes eyelash loss?
My eyelashes are not thick and they fall down easily even when I wash my face. Is there any meds. or therapy I should ask for? What vitamine supplies should I take?
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
Are you using water proof mascara? That dries your eyelashes out and could make them fall out. Use a moisturizing mascara and eye makeup remover. Also throw out your mascara after 3 months, 5 at the most. You can ask your doctor about it but I suspect dryness is the problem!
Question 4
Eyelash hair loss what causes this?

Question 5
Is natural mascara better than regular mascara?
Ok so a few months ago i used to wear this one waterproof mascara(the regular ones you’d buy at your drugstore that help darken your eyelashes) and i found that regular mascara is prone to cause eyelash loss and make them thinner also. So i switched over to natural mascara(the brand is sephora and its the gel type). And im wondering how much better this natural mascara could be compared to the regular mascara.
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
Natural makeup of any kind is better for you because it’s not putting chemicals in/onto your skin. Especially with eye makeup, you should be more careful because the ingredients (most of which nobody has a clue of what they are) in the regular mascara could potentially cause damage to your eyes. Natural overall is just better for your whole body.
Question 6
What causes severe loss of eyelashes (up to 20 daily). The last two years i’ve lost over 75% of my lashes.
I’m 36 and over the last two years I’ve suffered dramatic loss of eyelashes which is very upsetting being a female and having enjoyed normal eyelashes all my life. Now they are disappearing rapidly and I don’t know what to do. My eyelids are itchy as well but i rarely have eye infections. A dermatologist said it was possibly alopecia arriata although does this cause itching? I’m so depressed about it. Help!
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
It does sound like alopecia. Have you noticed any other areas of hair loss? Even mild hair loss? Your eyelashes may be the only hair loss you will ever have. (based on you actually having alopecia) Go see another derm for a second opinion. Alopecia is treated with cortisone injections, cortisone creams and a few other topical creams, but you cannot treat eyelashes with any of those so definitely get a 2nd opinion.
Question 7
Eyelash loss during pregnancy?!?
So Im 27 weeks pregnant and I use to have really long eyelashhes that were thick, and people would think they were fake. NOW they have seriously gotten noticeably shorter!? And I have less of them? What is this caused by, does this have to do with pregnancy? Ive heard it does. Will they go back to how they were?! Thanks!
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
It did not happen to me, but there is some Q & A on the subject at this website:
http://www.eyelashanswers.info/3527/losi…
Here’s a more technical (possible) answer, from another website:
http://beatpsoriasis.com/hairloss-types.…
A sudden patchy loss of hair may be due to the condition known as Alopecia Areata. This condition is relatively common, and as many as 1 in 1,000 people may suffer from it at some time. The cause is unknown and occasionally it becomes very widespread and severe.
The causes can be numerous, but the good news is that it is many times due to an imbalance in the person’s system, which if rectified, will result in complete regrowth of hair. An effective set of blood tests is necessary to reveal any imbalances. Some of the most common causes are medications, pregnancy, birth control pills, thyroid malfunctions, anemia, syphilis, and arthritis. Whatever the cause may be, the body’s response is to initiate an autoimmune response, whereby the body perceives the follicles as foreign objects, and attempts to reject them from the system.
Question 8
Is it true that…?
is it true that wearing mascara everyday will cause eyelash loss? That my eyelashes will fall out over time if I wear it everyday?
Is it mascara that damages your lashes or the remover?
I know eyelashes naturally fall out anyway, but I mean an increased number due to the mascara.
Best Answer – Chosen by Asker
No. It is the fact that most people don’t know how to remove mascara that makes them fall out.
Try not to use waterproof mascara at all. Always remove make-up before you go to bed. Use an oil based eye make up remover – not a cleansing wipe or your normal cleanser. Put some on a cotton pad and hold it over your lashes for a few seconds for the mascara to dissolve. Gently wipe along the lashes from top to bottom and then on a clean part of the cotton wool pad do the same for the bottom to the top lashes.
Question 9
Can anxiety cause hair loss?
I have had anxiety issues for a couple of months and the last few weeks it has gotten worse and I have noticed that I am losing quite a lot of hair. Around 6 times a day I have to get eyelashes out of my eyes and I was washing my hair and I ran my fingers lightly through my hair and two big clumps of hair came out with no pain or reason.
I was just wondering if my anxiety could have caused this.
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
Stress can cause a multitude of problems in the human body. I have linked you to WebMD and an interesting article about hair loss.
http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-t…
Here is an excerpt from it:
Telogen effluvium is temporary hair loss that can occur within a few months after a high fever, a severe illness or extreme stress, and in women following childbirth.
I suggest going to see your doctor to have some blood work done. There can be other underlying causes for hair loss other than just the stress.
Best of luck to you
Question 10
I am 19 m suffering frm total hair loss eye brows , eyelashes, head for the last few yrs. no treatment wrkin?
i have taken some allopathic treatments but i dnt get any satisfactory results ratheri have developed some stretch marks due to its treatment , also my skin has become darker can u plz explain me the real cause and ans to can i grow my hairs back or not without any hesitation plz tell me the truth . i also hav the condition o pin lined nails and a little uneven hairs on my body plz plz plz get me out of this puzzled life
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
Sounds like allopecia to me. 19? yeah sounds like it to me. If that is true, I am very sorry for you, but there is no cure for it. Other causes. Well, if you dont think you have that genetic condition, you need a blood test. Your looking for contamination for all sorts. Usually heavy metals or radiation. Is anyone else around you losing hair? Either way, only a blood test will tell if it is the genetic condition or a toxic side effect.
Eyelash extensions in NYC?

Question 1
Eyelash extensions in NYC?
Hello fellow beauty junkie yelpers!
Please help me find the best eyelash extensions in NYC!
I have decided I want to try out eyelash extensions, I need a springtime beauty pick me up. I have been wanting them for a while but have been nervous, since I am a freak about things near my eyes (took me till last year to try contacts) I don’t know anyone that has them so I am at your mercy.
I’ve read the reviews on yelp and am confused!!! I’ve checked out some websites and have even made some calls to ask questions and I just don’t want to go to any salon and get them esp. with such an investment.
I have narrowed it down to- Lashtique, she really took the time to answer my gazillion questions and I am impressed(very) by the pics on her blog. Even the more dramatic ones look really real and natural.
Other option is Pierre Michel since they also have great reviews on yelp and other sites. The only thing is their hours don’t mesh well with mine BUT if they are worth it I would figure it out. My concern is no online pics, however, I’m into the “best of” title.
It seems the others I tried didn’t impress me or seemed bothered when I asked questions or the pictures looked either too spidery or too much like strip lashes.
Any help or other suggestions are appreciated I want to go ASAP. (funny, took me a year to finally decide to take the plunge and now it’s in my head and want them NOW LOL)

Good false eyelashes/classy dramatic makeup?

Question 1 : Good false eyelashes/classy dramatic makeup?
im going to be like a 50’s (ish) mobster girl or james bond girl for halloween (the dress and boots i found work for both) but i really want to have the gorgeous thick looking eyelashes. my eyelashes are naturally straight and kinda thick and long, but nothing special. i got false eyelashes last year (i was barbie) but they were insanely long and thick (they were from a drugstore and made for halloween). they were also a full set, not the separate individual ones i want the dramatic look but i want it to look a little more natural
im also on a budget and will probably only use the lashes just for that night. but what do you suggest for them? and do you think smokey eyeshadow? or what?
Best Answer –
Ok, well what I think that you should get is maybe MAC eyelashes.. they have a great variety of eyelashes and they are not to expensive. If you want something a little cheaper there are some from CVS that you can get but don’t get the ones made for Halloween, they are purposely very dramatic. Also, what I think that you should do since you are being a 50ish mobster girl you should do liquid liner on your top lid and smokey pencil liner on your inner bottom lid. Also, a bright pink or reddish lip would look very nice. If you have any questions just let me know. :]]

I find the best mascaras are:
-Rimmel volume flash (best applied when using the tip of the brush on
the second coat.)
-L’oreal volume shocking (a bti more pricey.)
Then heat up your eyelash curlers using either hairdryer- or holding on the straighteners for two seconds and then blowing before curling.
Then curl each eye for one minute- repeat this twice, then curl each eye for thirty seconds (reheating the curlers each time before curling.)
I do this every morning! A bit of hassle but it really opens up your eyes and makes them dramatic
Question 5 : Where can I find false eyelashes for cheap?
I do high fashion makeup as a makeup artist. I’m looking for false eyelashes by the dozen — dark, dramatic, black lashes and more whimsical, feather, colorful lashes. • Answerer 1
I wouldn’t do the lashes..just curl them really well and use a good mascara like covergirl lashblast or dior. fake lashes really do look fake (in my opinion) and usually only look realistic when done by a professional. they can also fall off easily which is embarassing!
• Answerer 2
go for it, dont apply to much mascara on them to it will look tacky and also if you want to leave them on for a long time dont scrub your eyes to get the mascara off its better not to even put mascara on them
• Answerer 3
go for it, it’s that time of year! i can confidently say that you will mess up your falsies (trust me, it taes practice. the first time i did it i got glue everywhere and it was a mess) i suggest you buy 2 pairs of natural ardells. practice applying them before the holidays, so your a pro by the time you have to see family and friends! i like dark brown falsies, because they look natural and it just looks like you have longer fuller lashes. just in case it doesn’t work out (which i’m sure you will do great at), i would get a backup of maybelline’s falsies mascara so it will give you that false lash effect (but not quite!) i would use a tweezer to remove lashes from packaging, then apply to your upper lashline as close as possible to your lashes without actually applying the strip to your eyelashes. while the glue is drying, prevent the lashes from drooping with your finger. don’t fondle with the lashes after the application, even though we all like to
it is MANDATORY to wear top eyeliner close to the upper lashes, otherwise you will see a dissapointing gap between your lid and lashes
. i strongly recommend in buying DUO lash glue in CLEAR, because the glue that comes with the lashes is always crap! good luck, i am confident in you! xo.
Question 7 : Natural looking false eyelashes?
I am considering getting some false eyelashes for the dramatic night-out look. But I have noticed that fake lashes can make you look like a clown if not applied on correctly. (I can always tell who wears fake ones, even some make up artists in the mall look so ridiculous with those fake ones on.)
Can you tell me which brand should I be choosing to get the most natural looking false eye lashes. And also, I would like to know what is the correct way to apply them in order to look real.
Thank you
Best Answer
For a natural look wearing false eyelashes, start by selecting the right color. A New York City-based national makeup artist for Pout cosmetics. If you have fair hair, stick to brown lashes–black may be too dramatic, except for evening wear. But if you have medium-toned skin and darker lashes, brown/black or black works well.
Next, select a length that isn’t too long. Most women use short lashes, which fill in the lash line to make it appear thicker and fuller rather than making lashes appear superlong.
My favorites: I-Iman Eyelashes ($18), which have two lengths in each package, and Sephora Flirt-It Lash Duo ($8; both at sephora.com), which has half-strips to enhance the outer corners of your lashes, as well as full strips for a more glamorous look.
Question 8 : Where do you go to get good false eyelashes applied for you?
I have tried the ones at home and just cannot get it right. I love dramatic eye make up but really want to try falsies and cannot get them on. I was just wondering if anyone had them put on and if so about how much is it? Is there any brand you recommend for quality or any that seem to last longer than other? Also, if I go in with eye make up already applied are they going to take that off to put them on first?
Best Answer – look around at different nail salons and stuff. we have one that puts them on for you and they stay on for about 2 weeks.
Question 9 : What’s the best place to buy false eyelashes from?
I like Lady-Gaga feather ones, Thick Glamorous/Dramatic ones, Thick and long single lashes and some of the natural looking ones aswell.
I also like ones with either silver lashes in with the regular ones or glitter dotted on the lashes or the lash line. help me find these please, and I’ll love you foreverrr <333

I always buy my lashes on Ebay from people who ship from China because the shipping and handling are free.
And they’re cheap to, like 10+ pairs for 6 dollars or something.
And they have the unique thick ones to for a little more for less pairs, but still cheaper if you went and bought them from a shop.
Question 10 : Mascara help PLEASE!! I want the fake eyelash look without the fake eyelashes!!?
• I’ve been searching and searching for that perfect mascara. I want to know what mascaras you all have found that gives you a dramatic, false eyelash look.
I really want that and all the mascaras I have tried, work well, but no to the degree I desire.
Best Answer I have a heating eyelash curler and I use that before I put on any mascara. The mascara i use is called max factor 1000 calorie mascara in black. it works sooo well.. the pic im gonna post on here to show you is not exactly the best pic, i looked through all my pics to show my eye makeup, but this day i just quickly threw it on… what i would suggest for you is to use a heating eyelash curler, then do a dark thick line of eyeliner on the top eyelid then accent it with some dark eye shadow near the outer corners of your eye. your eyes should look stunning. max factor is inexpensive, about 6 bucks, and stay away from water proof! its terrible for your eyes and eyelashes
