Yahoo Answer
Are heated eyelash curlers worth it?
I’ve always used the simple metal ones, however the body shop don’t sell the rubber bits anymore, and they never really worked on my eyelashes anyway :S
I was just wondering whether or not heated eyelash curlers really do work then, or whether they just really muck them up and make then fall out, like straighteners and hair. I was thinking of these?- http://www.feelunique.com/p/blinc-Heated-Lash-Curler.html
Any help would be much appreciated! Or any advice on how to create long thick, and curled eyelashes from my dead straight ones?

Dear Confuse_with_dreamweaver,
i have always used the simple metal curlers for my makeup artist work.
The good ones are made by Shu Uemura or MAC, even lesser known brands like Glominerals make good curlers.
Unfortunately if you have stubborn lashes (no matter thick or thin), most curlers cannot set them up in the curl you want.
I NEVER advise to use a hair dryer to heat up your curler.
Why?
1) Because the heated metal might be overheated and burn your eyelid
2) The heat, over time, will damage the rubber bung of the curler and you’ll find that your curler don’t work as well
3) the overheated rubber might get caught onto your lashes (in the case of excess heating) and your lashes will get caught in it, damage your lashes, or losing them when you pull them out accidentally.
4) Basically you just overheat everything on the curler and damage it and your eyelid.
I love the heated eye lash curlers from
1) ModelCo – http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh…
2) Japonseque from AveYou
http://www.aveyou.com/browseproducts/Jap…
Both have controlled heat and will not burn you eye lids. Might feel hot but definitely don’t burn, as I have tried it on myself (have to try it on myself before i put it on anyone, and I have stubborn Asian/Chinese lashes)
the heated curling wands will not damage your lashes as they emit a lesser heat.
How to use it?
NOTE: You can use it before or after your mascara is on. I realise it works better with less waxy mascara (more waterproof/water resistant as they dry out on the lashes more)
1) Switch on your curler and leave it to heat up for 30seconds
2) Use your favourite mascara on your lashes.
3) USE only ONE coat
4) Allow the first coat of mascara to get DRY before using the curler
5) Using the heated curler, press the tip of the lashes towards your eye lid and hold for 5 to 10seconds. This will create a slight curl on the tip.
6) Move the curler to the centre of the lash and press it towards the lashes and hold for 5 to 10 seconds.
7) The action of pressing your lashes towards your eye lid and the heated part of the curler will set the curl of your eye lash.
Finish by moving close to the lash line of the eye, and press the lashes towards the eyelid.
9) You should have fully curled lashes by now.
10) By now after the lashes are curled, you are allowed to put your 2nd and 3rd coat. Remember if you put too much mascara, your lashes might get too wet and become straighten again.
In humid weather, you will notice that your lashes might lose its curl during midday. This is due to heat, humidity and the moistness of your lashes, the mascara got moist and hence losing it dryness to hold the lashes up.
Hopefully you bring your heated curler in your purse and switch the wand on and, viola…. your lashes will be curled again after some reheating.
