Does vaseline really make eyelashes longer? i have short eyelashes and i want to find a way to make them longer and fuller. i know about mascaras and eye lash curlers and fake lashes. i was just wondering if there’s something else i can do. please help :D

Like you my eyelashes are short and thin. I have tried Vaseline but I hated it, it didn’t make my eyelashes look very nice, they were clumpy and sticky and gross and it looked like I had conjunctivitis or something! Petroleum jelly does not promote lash growth either so there’s really no point putting it on.

Try getting an eyelash tint and perm, they make your eyelashes look 10x longer and darker (hence thicker) especially with a mascara on top. When I had it done I had random people asking me how I got my eyelashes to look so good! It cost about 60$ and the perm lasted about 3 months. However the tint doesn’t last as long. Also after years of searching for a good mascara I FINALLY found a fantastic one, try Covergirl Lash Blast mascara, it makes your lashes longer and thicker without clumping (which I always had a problem with). it doesn’t make them grow it just keeps them in place so it looks like they’ve grown ..

Absolutely not! In fact, you should make sure the base of the hairline is clean after face is washed or make-up is removed. Vaseline can clog the hair follicles. Giving you exactly the opposite effect you want.

Make-up artist Carmindy actually addresses this in her new book. Her recommendation (per an interview with an optometrist) is to clean the follicle hairline with a wet q tip.

Coat them in lemon juice and then put Vaseline on top. Do this for about a month and you’ll see a huge difference.
In the meantime, use a quick fix method and get some eyelash curlers! They make your eyelashes appear bigger.

I been putting vaseline every night & I kinda seen a change in mine..They got thicker & a little bit darker. But from all the other answers I guess its depending on the person.
& No I dont wash it in the morning.

    Usually I use a clean mascara wand with nothing on it, dip it into the Vaseline, and apply it to my lashes just like I would with mascara. Am I actually doing anything beneficial? And can you tell me any other cosmetic (beauty) uses for Vaseline? I’d like to incorporate it into my beauty routine.

it just hydrates them. if u stopped doin in, ur eyelashes would get dry+ brittle. apply it with ur fingers at night and go 2 sleep wit it on

Vaseline won’t make your eyelashes grow- it’ll just condition them a bit. That’s like thinking putting Vaseline on your hair will make that grow… Won’t work.

Best bet would be to get an eyelash tint- accentuates the lashes more (the tips are usually lighter) or get some extensions put in by a professional.

I tried it once every night for two weeks and it made my eyelashes a bit longer, but mostly thicker. It also clumps them together sometimes, so you’ll have to comb them. I would have continued using it, but it started to irritate my eyelids. Now I’m using extra virgin olive oil to remove waterproof makeup and I’ve noticed that it’s made my eyelashes stronger and more feathery-looking.

No it doesn’t, it just clumps them together & makes them LOOK longer & fuller, try more protein in your diet but I do seriously doubt that that will help. Eyelashes have a terminal growth, meaning they only grow to a certain length & then stop growing longer…else everyone would be walking around with 18 foot long eyelashes & not be able to see..Cha!! When was the last time that you heard of someone needing an eyelash trim???

I’m sorry to say that it doesn’t really work. I’ve tried it a few times and my results were pretty much like a globby clear mascara. It was pretty dissapointing. If you’re looking for longer eyelashes however, maybe you should consider tinting them? It’s basically like dying the tips of your eyelashes to make them darker. It works really well you’re fair like me when the tips of your eyelashes are usually too blonde to see. You get kits from supermarkets labelled things like ‘30 Day Mascara’ and you can also get it done in a salon. You could also consider getting eyelash extentions or wearing fake eyelashes if it really bothers you that much. I’d just invest in a good mascara myself though. Good luck! x

It makes them look longer while you have it on there, but idk if it will actually make them grow :P
I do it anyways just in case it does work.

It makes them oily and darker looking so gives the illusion that they are longer. Wash the vaseline off and they’ll look like they did before. Accept what you have and use a great mascara. Or try the vaseline it won’t hurt you but it’s a little difficult to remove.
