How easy is home eyelash tinting?

Question 1
try tinting my eyelashes at home. Of course, I plan
to use only vegetable dye.
Has anyone tried this themselves? Which products last the longest?
I have access to Sally’s, PBS and the general drugstore/beauty
stores.
Answer 1
I strongly advise against dying your eyelashes.
I hope that if you decide to dye your eyelashes, you do it professionally ( is
it illegal?) I read in an Old issue of Vogue about how you could go blind by
doing it wrong. I’m not sure if veg. dye is harmful for your eyes, but if you
decide to go through with it at home, at least get someone to supervise/help
you along the process. Good luck with whatever your choice is.
Answer 2
I’ve had my eyelashes dyed before. I had it done for free though; my
older sister did it for me. If it’s done properly it gives a wonderful
effect to the eyes, ie. wonderfully dark lashes without mascara. Also,
you don’t have to apply as much mascara as normal. One coat would do
it. You definitely need someone else to do it, it’s much easier. But,
if the tint gets under your lashes and into your eye, it stings like
crazy, and could possibly hurt your eyes permanantly. Also, NEVER wear
contacts while doing the tinting. The thing is though, the tint lasts
about, at the most, two to four weeks, which is a pain because it
should last longer. Getting it done professionally, if it’s possible,
would probably be better than doing it yourself, if you have to do it
at all. It adds a nice touch, but, personally, I probably wouldn’t get
it done again; it’s not worth the money it would cost, or the
potential dangers.

Question 1
How easy is home eyelash tinting?
I would like to get my eyelashes tinted but I find it very hard to keep still when someone else applies mascara onto me – I automatically squish my eyes closed and get it everywhere. Therefore I’m assuming I might find it hard to not squish my eyes closed and get dye everywhere if I went to a salon for eyelash tinting.
So I’m considering doing it myself at home – does anyone have any tips or cautions on technique or recommendations on which kits are good? (& on sale in England.)
Thanks very much in advance, Kat

don’t do it hun.. I tried it at home was a complete mess.. my advice is to go to a salon and tell them you automatically squish you eyes together and see what they can do for you..
I had it done at a salon it does sting a bit.. and doesn’t really last that long… I have my eyebrows done all the time and they last a month but eye lash tinting doesn’t
Its worth asking the question is it all worth it.. I would only get it done again if I was going on holiday or some
P.s: make sure they do a skin test first…
Question 2
Where can I buy an at-home eyelash tint kit?
- What are some good (and safe) brands for a do-it-yourself eyelash tint kit. Can I buy these in a store or online? Links?

I took a couple of suggestions from my first question so now I am looking for a at-home eyelash tint kit. You can go to school now.

i always see them in pharmacies and drugstores. one brand that i see alot is something called ‘1000 hour’ eyelash and eyebrow tints. its pretty self explanatory, it lasts for 1000 hours (dont know how much that is in days) and it actually helps you find out which color is the best suited for your eye and hair color.
its not that expensive, its usually priced around NZ$10 and i havent heard anything terrible about it so i would try that. getting your eyelashes tinted professionally doesnt cost that much either so if you screw up your at-home kit then you can get it done professionally.
Question 3
Eyelash and eyebrow tinting…?
With my ginger hair, I have blonde eyebrow and eyelash tinting. I can go to my local beauty place to have them tinted, but it doesn’t last too long! Is there anyway I can naturally tint them at home?
Best Answer – Chosen by Asker
believe it or not, I dye my eyebrows….put petroleum jelly all around your eyebrow so it dosent dye your skin or run….thne use a qtip to apply small thin amount of dye and wash after 5-7 minutes….for eye lashes just use mascara everyday is all I can think of.
Question 4
I want to know more about eyelash tinting?
How does one go about it doing it at home? Is it safe? How much is it? How long does it last?
I have super light, blonde eyelashes and just want to darken them so I don’t always have to wear mascara.

If you can put on mascara, you can EASILY tint your own eyelashes at home.
It’s just as safe as getting it done professionally, in fact from personal experience and brain power… I’d say safer. The first time I did it, I went to the hairdresser around the corner (a pretty good one, but pretty expensive) and it absolutely killed! I’m guessing it’s cause the professionals use “professional” strength chemicals whereas the supermarket ones are weaker. The weak one’s fine though, because your eyelashes don’t last long enough for it to fade anyway (they last about a month before they fall out, unlike hair which keeps growing)
I used one (avaliable in Australia) called “1000 hour lashes” and got it at K-mart for about $12. you just mix it up in this little dish thing it comes with, and it turns into this black goop which you stick on your lashes with the stick. It takes some practice getting it to sit on your lashes, but once you’ve got the hang of it… it only takes about 15 minutes all up.
If you’ve got naturally blonde lashes, I’d go with the brown instead of black- cause then you can still get the ‘no make-up’ look if you want to, without looking like you’ve got bald eyes.
Also, before you start, put a thin layer of vaseline around your eyes so you don’t accidentally dye your face if you spill any. Don’t let it touch your lashes though because the dye won’t get through. Keep a tissue/cottonbud handy too incase you get a bit in your eyes.
Question 5
Eyelash tinting? Should I do it? Pros and Cons from those who have tried?
When I was younger, my hair used to be light, light blonde. As I got older, my hair started to darken, but my eyebrows and eyelashes still remain a very light blonde. I got blonde highlights so that my hair would match the color of my eyebrows a little more, and I wear mascara everywhere I go except for when I’m at home. When I’m not wearing mascara, I don’t look like I have any eyelashes what-so-ever. It’s completely irritating, because when I want to wear no-makeup around my boyfriend, I don’t want to because my eyelashes are too light. In February I’m going on vacation with my boyfriend, and I would really enjoy not having to wear makeup the whole time I’m with him.
My mom recently told me about eyelash tinting, and I would like to know from people who have tried, if I should try it? What are the pros and cons?

My eyelelashes and brows are very light also. Whatever you do, DON’T dye them yourself!!! Those dyes can be known to cause blindness, and it needs to be done by a professional with professional products. Do NOOOOOOT use ANY kind of box hair dye you can buy at your drugstore!!!!!!
When I have had my eyelashes dyed, I have only found one salon in my area that does it well, without my skin or eyes burning. Go to a reputable high-end salon to get it done. These are your EYES, and you need someone who is experienced and who uses good products. Surprisingly, the salon I go to is one of the most expensive in my city, yet they have the cheapest price on brow and lash tinting! I pay $35 for brows and lashes, but some places in my city cost around $70.
Once you make your appt, go to Walmart and buy Saline Eye Drops. You can get a huge bottle for $4. My salon flushes my eye thoroughly after dying, but bring the drops if your salon doesn’t. I tried a new place to tint my lashes once, and they didn’t flush out my eyes afterward. I didn’t have drops with me, and my eyes and skin burned and stung for hours. The salon I usually go to is a pain free experience, and yours should be, too.
I would not get this procedure done regularly, as it can cause permanent vision problems or blindness over time. But I get mine dyed every few years when I am headed to the beach- because salt water dissolves waterproof mascara. The dye lasts about a month.
Dye them if you want to, but the best thing you can do is embrace your brows and lashes. Sure, I look kinda funny with my really dark hair and really light brows and lashes, but that doesn’t mean I’m ugly. And your boyfriend should love you regardless of your hair color
Try using a powder to fill in your eyebrows- it lasts much longer and looks more natural than a pencil that can melt off.
Question 6
Eyebrow and eyelash dye?
- Hi there,I have strawberry blonde hair and white eyebrows and eyelashes,
I have been tinting them at home for years with either a brand called colorsport or a brand called dylash both available here in uk.Thank God i’ve always been ok using the stuff, as has my sister (who is a natural brunette but for some weird reason has sandy blonde eyebrows!)
But lately i’ve read all this coverage about allergies to a chemical called parapheneledine (i probably spelt it wrong!) /ppd, i think it’s like a coal tar dye thats in majority of hair dyes and unfortunatly is in these two lash dyes. I’ve heard that someone can develop an alergy at any time even if they’ve used it before, and some allergies have been near fatal.
I wanted to know a safe brand of eyebrow and eyelash dye, http://www.eyestodyefor.co.uk/ I have heard of swiss-o-par which is a german produced brand has anyone used it? if anyone dyes their lashes/brows, what do you use? Am i just being paranoid about this hair dye allergy? Is it extremly rare?

vaseline actually helps grow hair so try that and also just get some everyday hair dye and take a q-tip and only apply it to the hair on ur eyebrows do not dye ur skin whatever u do and only leave on for 10 min max
