Question 1

My dog has her eyelashes growing into her eyes?

she has to get surgery soon and she is almost closing her eyes the all the time the entire day. is she basically blind?

Best Answer – Chosen by Asker

She’s not blind because she’s closing her eyes, she’s closing them because it’s painful. Get the surgery asap before her corneas ulcerate

Question 2

My daughter is 6 months old and her lower eyelid is pushing her eyelashes into her eye?

I have spoken to the doctor about it several times, they said to wait until she was 6 months old, because she may grow out of it. She has not grown out of it, so they are sending her to a specialist. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this with their children and what to expect at the appointment with the pediatric eye doctor. Any input would be helpful.

Its a condition called congenital entropion. It can be corrected by a minor lid surgery.

Question 4

Red Spot in Eye which doesn’t hurt?

I have a red spot in my eye and I know it’s normal to get one that goes away in a week or two but I’ve had this one for ages. It’s next to my iris, looks like one of those harmless spots, and doesn’t hurt or anything. I’m young and eye diseases don’t run in my family. Some people in my family get the same red spots that I do, but they don’t get it until they’re much older, and on some family members it goes away for a few months, and some just don’t go away. I’ve had this one for a few months and I really didn’t care about it but now for some reason I just want to be cautious. Should I go to a doctor or is there anything I could try which could possibly get rid of it?

I have a theory (which I have no idea whether it could be the cause or not), but I have a feeling that it could be caused by an eyelash I have. In my family, long, weird eyelashes are common and a lot of my family get an extra layer of eyelashes growing into their eye and they have to pluck it. I don’t have ingrown eyelashes, but I have one eyelash that for some reason is curled downwards and touches my eye everytime I blink. It isn’t irritating but I think that’s because I’m used to it. If any other eyelash touches my eye, I get teary. Could that at all possibly cause the red spot and should I pluck it out or use an eye lash curler?

Question 5

What do you do with eyelashes that grow upside down?

Rather than sticking out, some of my eyelashes grow down into my eyes. What can I do about this?

I would recommend individual eyelash extensions by www.xtremelashes.com.
they lift your lashes, give them a natural beautiful curl and add volume length and sexiness! The best part is that they don’t damage your own eyelashes.
If its just one or two lashes that’s growing in crazy direction, you are able to permanently remove those through Electrolysis. Sounds scary but its not. It takes two seconds.whatever you do do not pluck them. This will cause the hair to grow even funkier and perhaps be an ingrown hair.
I would also recommend a heated eyelash curler as opposed to a mechanical curler you can get anywhere. The heat is strong enough to make a difference but not strong enough to cause damage. Excessive use of a regular mechanical lash curler will cut and break your own lashes. That does not happen with a heated lash curler. Question 6

Why do my eyelashes grow toward my eye and scratch it?

My new upper eyelashes that grow (small, stubby, paler) always grow straight or down into my eye and scratch my cornea. I have no idea what to do. I use gel drops and have to sleep with my contact in to prevent serious damage to my cornea. I have tried pulling a few out before, after a hard struggle I pulled the main culprit out but it grew back in the same way again. I have no inward turned eyelids, my full grown eyelashes are facing upward and are just fine. It is frustrating because one week I will have new growth in one eye and then the other eye. Right now there are around 6 new eyelashes growing and its unbearable. I have seen the eye doctor all they do is pluck them which causes bad inflammation.

You’re right they do tend to grow back again with the same problem if they are plucked out. You can have surgery which will freeze the root of the lash follicles that are affected and this will stop them from going back. Go to your eye doctor and ask to be referred on to an ophthalmologist instead

Question 7

Has anyone heard of my abnormal eyelash problem in which the lashes start to deep and the base irritate my eye?

It is in the outside corners of both of my lower lids and the base of the eyelash is starting to grow just under the surface of the inside of my eyelid. So close that i can in fact see black dots in the inside of my eyelid. They dont grow into my eye like other eyelash disorders but grow in the right direction. When i pull the suspected eyelash out on the other side, the black dot disapears. This lasts for a maybe a couple weeks until another black dot shows up and the irritation starts again. I am now to the point that i have multiple black dots on both eyes and no eyelashes growing out where they should be so i cant pull them out and my eyes stay irritated. I feel this may have to do with a chronic eyelid enflamation where i would pull on my eyelashes to try to get them to stop itching.

Sounds like Blepharitis which is inflammation of the eyelids characterized by redness and swelling and dried crusts. A cure does not exist but keeping good eyelid hygiene helps prevent…

Question 9

Feeling of eye lash curling/pointing into eye?

I have had this problem for the last day or so now, with this strange feeling of an eyelash growing inwards and touching the eye. I pulled out a hair from the same eye about a day ago, and after that it was irrattating for a while and felt like something was in my eye, but after a good night sleep it feels slightly better, but i still feel as if something is there?
If you have any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

It is an extremely common but very annoying problem to have an ingrowing lash. Get your optometrist to have a look.

Question 10

My 2 year old toddler seems to have an eyelash growing on the inside of his eyelid?

My 2 year old toddler seems to have an eyelash growing on the inside of his eyelid?
Last night, whilst putting my son to bed, I noticed an eyelash in his eye that I had spotted a few times previously but thought nothing off. Upon closer inspection this eyelash seems to be growing from a follicule out of line with the others and basically grows into my sons eye.

He has been prone to a number of eye infections and now I am wondering how long this eyelash has been there and if this is the cause of his problems. He has seen a number of hospital opthalmologists and on a recent holiday to Brazil we got a second opinion. We have always been fobbed off with eye drops and the eyelash never noticed.

I shall be booking a GP appointment first thing tomorrow morning, but I don’t know how serious this is, and how much discomfort my son is in. Alhtough he doesnt show much discomfort I am worried that he is just used to having this foreign object in his eye now and I cant believe I havn’t spotted it before.

I dont know the severity of the problem and whether I should be trying to push this through for treatment in the next few days, or should I just accept that there could be a waiting list for this type of thing to be sorted.

Anybody heard of this problem before, or have any advice?

You need to book an appointment with your GP, who may or maybe not refer you to a specialist. However i seen this stuff before, i used to work in an opticians and we had a doctor on sight who could remove such eye lashes.
