Why are symptoms different in people??

Question 1 : Why are symptoms different in people??
Also, what are the symptoms have having it in your eye? I often worry
about this, and the more I think about it the more I think I have it. Is there
any pictures out there with someone with eye herpes?
Answer : Try this website for info:

There aren’t any pictures, apparently because it can take different forms.
From my AMA Encyclopedia of medicine:
“If the virus gets into an eye, it may cause conjunctivitis (which usually
lasts only a few days) or, more seriously, a corneal ulcer.”
From my AMA Family Medical Guide,
“In conjunctivitis, the surface of the eye and the inside lining of the
eyelids, all of which are covered with a membrane called the conjunctiva,
become inflamed and sore. The eye looks red and bloodshot, and there may be
a discharge that makes it feel sticky and “gummed up”.
Be aware, however, that many other things can cause conjunctivitis.
For corneal ulcer, they write,
“An ulcer on the cornea causes pain and discomfort in the eye, and may make
the white of the eye turn pink or red. In addition, you may be able to see
the ulcer as a whitish patch and your vision in that eye may be misted over
or otherwise impaired.”
Again, other things can cause corneal ulcers.
If you just have a bump on the edge of your eye, could it be a sty? That’s
an infected eyelash follicle, like a boil or pimple. I know when I got one
I immediately figured it was herpes and I was going to go blind! But I
didn’t.
Lastly, you might try a search on Dogpile for ocular herpes
You’ll get a billion responses, including some discussion group threads that
I didn’t read but sound like they’ll help.
Question 2 : Ever get an infected eyelash follicle?
I have had them before and they go away in a day or two. This time it is lasting longer and my lower eyelid is so swollen and sore. I feel and look like I have been punched in the eye.
I have been holding warm compresses to it several times a day but so far it just keeps swelling.
It is to the point (because I wear contact lenses) that it is bothering my vision today. What a PITA.
Answer: Ouch!! I’ve had those before and man do they hurt. Warm compacts seem to help mine the most, I got an ointment from my doctor once too – but that made me even more blind once it was in – I hope you get some relief soon!
Two or three weeks ago I had an ingrown eyelash on my top eyelid. It had been sore and had a little bump there when I was putting on eyeliner for a few days, then one day it was huge and red and I could see the lash just under the skin about 1/8″ long. Once I figured out what it was it was a total WTF?! for real?! moment : Didn’t even think an ingrown eyelash was possible – yuck.

Question 4 : Eyelash help!!!!!! ASAP?
what happens when an eyelash goes in your eyes. Can it cause a stye? oh and i want to know what an infected eyelash follicle is and how it is caused. Please i really need help because i dont want anything bad to happen to my eyes.
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
ok first, relax.
if you feel the lash in your eye, try to move your eye ball around until you see it.
then, VERY CAREFULLY with VERY CLEAN HANDS pull it out.
an infected eyelash follicle is a strand that has been infected- either by bad mascara, not taking your mascara off, conjunctivitis or any rash that has gotten near your eye. if this happens… SEE A DOCTOR!! they CAN remove it, and give you a topical cream to disinfect the area.
Question 5 : I keep having this twitch in my left eye…..?
My bottom eyelid is kinda sore like it has an infected eyelash follicle and I think thats what’s making it twitch but it’s really annoying. My mom said it could be nerves. What do you think?

Im arabic. In my culutre, a left eye twitch is very bad news coming up or bad luck..
a right eye twitch is good news, health or happiness..
being logical about it however, lol.. eye twitching could be for a number of different reasons.. if your reallllly worried see a GP, however i kno its probably just annoying, i once had one for 24 hours straight I was gna jump of a cliff. eye twitching is also referred to as an eye muscle spasm. “The term blepharospasm really applies to any abnormal blinking or involuntary eye twitching of the eyelids caused by uncontrolled contractions of the muscles around the eyelids”.
Question 6 : Question about taking antibiotics for my stye?
Ive had either a stye or chalazion on my upper eyelid for over a month. Ive been using hot compresses, but it didnt help. This morning I woke up and my eye was really swollen and big and just bad. So I went to the doctor, and she gave me antibiotics saying it was an infected eyelash follicle.
I really want my eye to get better SOON. I dont want to go to school with my eye all big puffy and nasty.
It says to take 2 antibiotics a day…But if I take more then 2, will it heal faster, or not?
Or do you guys know any fast healing tricks to get rid of this stye, infected eyelash follicle thing?
Anyyy help is appreciated. Thanks

The human body can only process a certain amount of an antibiotic at one time. That is why antibiotics are prescribed based on weight. If you take more than that amount the body will excrete the excess in the urine and it will be lost. Take the prescribed dose for best results which you should start to see in about 2 days.
Question 7 : How do you get rid of a STY on your eye?
I woke up this morning and my eye was hurting as if some one had punched me in the eye. My bottom eyelid has a semi small reddish bump and i’m pretty sure its a sty. omfg. it is bothering the crap out of me. What are some remedies that get rid of it FAST. My mom told me to pluck the eyelash in the middle because its a infected eyelash follicle or something and if you pull it out your eye will get better. i did that and my eye feels a little better. any suggestions?

Ok, well when I had one of those, my dad punctured the sty with a needle! (No joke!) And it actually went away! But I would NOT recommend that, because it’s diffidently not safe and I’m not even sure if it’s sanitary or not! BUT you put a warm compress on it every morning and every night and it will eventually go away. Just heat up a little water on the stove, soak a hand-towel with it, and put it on your eye for awhile. I promise it will go away after you do that a couple days or weeks. I hope your sty goes away!

I know what I’m talking about, because I had one of those every year until 5th grade!
Question 8 : I have recurrent small bumps on my eyelids?
i get a small bump on my eyelid everyday or two and it usually goes away the next morning… are they little styes? i had blepharitis… i guess my eyelash follicles just get infected easily? any advice or anyone know whats wrong? thanks
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
I used to get those along with frequent blepharitis until my eye doc told me to wash my eyelids and eyebrows with baby shampoo twice a day. I just wash my face morning and night with my regular face wash then after I rinse while my face is still wet, I put a small less than a dime size drop of baby shampoo in my hand and lather up my eyelids and brows. Make sure you rinse thoroughly and dry gently. I haven’t had a recurrence in the few months since I started doing this.
Question 9 : Sty on my eye!?
I have a sty on my eye!! Its pretty puffy and swollen looking along the line of my eyelashes (on the top). Has anyone else ever had one of these and what ended up happening?? Also, I just read that they are caused my a hair follicle that I guess has stuff clogged in it?? and they said to find that hair and try to pull it!! OUCH! should i do that…?? If so, How will I know which hair is infected
Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
A sty is an ingrown eyelash or blocked hair follicle, and you don’t want to go poking around your eyelids. Apply a hot washcloth several times a day, and take a steam facial if you can. The body will either absorb the hair, or more likely will force it to the surface and out. If it is due to an ingrown hair, the hair will come to the surface of the skin and be held by a thin cover, which you can either rub open with the cloth, or sometimes use a tweezer to open and release the hair. If it is an infected follicle, it will form a whitehead- like the others on a face, and the heat will make it drain. In the meantime, you need to dispose of any eye makeup you have been using. That means mascara, eyeliners, and shadow (ouch the expense!). Any one of those items can carry bacteria, or have particles/clumps which have caused the pore to block. In future, be very careful to remove all makeup from the eye area every day- use a makeup remover to make sure it’s all off. Try to avoid the water-proof mascaras, as they are really hard to get off completely and are more likely to block a pore. Wash your hands well before you mess with your eye, use a clean cloth each time, and don’t touch the other eye after touching the sty until you wash your hands well. If it is an infection, you dont want to spread it to the other eye. If it really gets painful and you can’t get it to heal, you will need to visit the opthomologist. Not an optometrist- they just do glasses. An opthomologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eyes. You regular doctor may be able to help as well. But try the heat first, and give it a week to take care of itself. Just don’t go poking at your eye. Aside from the obvious danger, it’s just a welcome for a worse infection.
Question 10 : Puffed eyelid
This morning when I woke up my left eyelid was all puffed up and swollen. I looked like an alien in my left eye.
At first I thought I must be dreaming. I even went as far as pinching myself to see if I really was or not! Unfortunately I wasnt.
After i showered it went down a bit, then about an hour after that it was pretty much back to normal.
I wanted to call in sick to work today, in the morning it was so bad that I myself didnt even want to look in the mirror.
My question is what would of caused this?
I think I might be getting sick, because i’ve been working 7 days a week and not getting a good healthy 3meal diet.
I did wear one of those eyecovers last night, but I sometimes will wear one from time to time if it is bright in my room and I cannot sleep.

Answer : Might be allergic to the eye cover, might have hit it in your sleep, might have been lots of other things. If it’s gone now, I’d say don’t worry about it.
If it comes back, you know what you must do.
Amputate.

Answer 2 : I had something similar on a lower eyelid a few years ago – it was a blocked tear duct, which is more common in little kids but not unheard of in adults. The doctor gave me an anti-inflamatory and told me to put a warm, wet compress on it ever few hours. It went away in a couple of days.
Good luck!
