How to Make Your Eyelashes Longer and Thicker with Mascara

  1 Curling your eyelashes adds more impact than you may realize. Nothing looks more gorgeous than beautifully curled lashes. But the eyelash curler can be a tad bit tricky. First, warm it a bit. Shoot it briefly with your hairdryer on medium. You want it to be warm to the touch, NOT hot. Then clamp the eyelash curler down as close to your lash line as you can without causing discomfort. Hold for a few seconds, then release. Repeat this step a little further up the lash each time until you get to the ends.

  2 Take your face powder and swirl a big, soft makeup brush in it. Close your eyes and dust the powder lightly over your eyelashes. The powder will cling to the ends of your lashes and they will appear much longer when you apply your mascara.

  3 Choosing the right mascara for the job can make all the difference in the world. Don’t settle for cheap mascara, purchase one that is going to get the job done. First decide what sort of look you are going for. If your eyelashes are short you’ll want to go with a lengthening mascara. If your issue is that your lashes are sparser and thin go for a thickening formula. Leave the ones with primer and too many steps to the pros. If you’re not sure what you are doing with a lash primer you’ll end up making your eyelashes very clumpy and gross.

  4 Apply your mascara starting at the very base of your eyelashes. Wiggle your brush in a side to side motion for a few seconds at the roots. Then pull the brush straight up, slowly all the way to the ends. Roll your brush as you apply the mascara to ensure you get the mascara on all sides of the brush onto your lashes. Repeat this a few times or until the desired length and thickness is achieved. Do not let it dry between coats; unless you are already very good with your mascara allowing it to dry between coats will make your lashes stick together causing clumps.

  5 If there are any clumps in your mascara, use an eyelash comb to gently brush them out.

  6 Once your mascara is dry you can try this tip for extra glossy and defined lashes. Dab a little Vaseline on your finger tip and carefully glide it over your lashes. A little goes a long way so don’t over do it. Now go out there and flaunt those sexy eyelashes

i know mascaras can make you lashes LOOK longer, but does it help they grow too? when i first started using mascara (i didn’t use this daily) even on days when i didn’t wear it i felt that my lashes were a lot longer. and recently i started puting mascara on my lower lashes too and i noticed that my bottom lashes got a lot fuller and darker too.. and this is when i don’t have ANY mascara on. or any make up at all for that matter.

No. Might as well say that hair dye makes your hair grow longer.

The reason that you feel as though they are longer is because the mascara adds pigment to those light hair or the light ends that you do not see. My lashes, while dark enough to be visible, are quite light at the tips. When I wear mascara, they appear to be much longer.

Has nothing to do with lash growth, just makeup doing its job

okay first of all it is like eyeliner..and ur best bet is to get Latisse..u can get it in plastic surgery offices and other places…if u want ur lashes to grow then u need the good, expensive stuff and this is the good stuff…i think its about 120$ for a months supply and u have to keep using it to get ur lashes to stay long

There’s no such thing. There is however stuff called Latisse that you can get by prescription from a doctor that’s supposed to make your lashes grow.

If you have short eyelashes you could try wearing fake eyelashes. You can get them like in drug stores and stuff. Then just apply mascara over it…

You can make your eyelashes longer by putting vasaline on them I heard, so if you’re that worried about them getting shorter just put some vasaline on them before you go to sleep

Mascara just emphasizes your eyelashes. It makes it longer and darker. Since you use clear mascara, it just makes your eyelashes seem a bit fuller and longer. So technically, it does sort of give an illusion. There are some mascaras that intentionally make your eyelashes grow longer and fuller.

Two years ago, I remember watching this show about beauty secrets and one of the products was this eyelash product that Victoria Secret’s models used to make their eyelashes grow longer. It wasn’t just a mascara. It was this liquid mascara look-a-like transparent product that you applied on your top lashes to make them grow.
Stupid me forgot to write down the name of the product and it’s been a while and I’m still trying to figure it out.

I’m just wondering if any of you know of any such product? I’m going make-up shopping next weekend and I just wanted to get some input on what to buy to make my eyelashes grow. Mascara is okay, but it doesn’t make your lashes grow…it just give them the full-length illusion.

as much as I would like to grow my eyelashes, they don’t. sorry to disappoint you.

I tried all sorts……nothing.

I suggest you book a ‘make-over’ with one of the top make up brands (suggest Lancome, Chanel, etc) at a department store (not at a beauty shop) and ask them to increase the length/volume of your eyelashes and see what products they use on you.

  they are so thin and weak and I have not too many eyelashes left due to wearing heavy mascara on a daily basis then trying to peel it off.

        Vaseline is my wonder product .First off, never every “peel off” your mascara; using a q-tip and vaseline, simply wipe it off. If there’s still some left, use a very small amount of baby shampoo (close your eyes).

  Before you sleep, coat your lashes w/vaseline and keep it on overnight. Just watch – one week, and I promise you’ll see a difference.
